Information About New Core Subjects Exams
If you pass the Generalist EC-6 and finish all of your certification requirements by August 31, 2017, you should not have to take the new Core Subjects EC-6 exam. Many people will probably find the new exam challenging, since it has 267 questions (compared to only 140 on the Generalist EC-6). So, if you struggle with test-taking, I recommend that you take the Generalist EC-6 soon. It will only be offered through August of 2015.
Also, the new Core Subjects exams require you to pass each individual subject area. If you only fail one subject area, you only have to re-take that section. The 45 day waiting period applies to this exam, just like all the other TExES exams.
The new Core Subjects exams will cost $120 each. If you need to re-take individual subject area tests, each one will cost $60.

Core Subjects Exams
Many of you are curious about the new Core
Subjects exams that will replace the Generalist EC-6 and Generalist 4-8.
Check out the ETS site- they posted the new preparation manuals for
the core subjects tests. One interesting change is that instead of 5
hours that are allowed for the Generalist exams, the Core Subjects tests
only allow 4 hours 40 minutes. http://www.texes.ets.org/texes/core-subjectsgeneralist-tests/
