Next BTLPT and LOTE Spanish Tests

The BTLPT and LOTE Spanish tests will be offered September 27-October 4.  Now is the time to register and study!  Since these exams are not offered year round, many test centers fill up early.  The registration deadline is September 12, but if you wait there might not be an available spot for you in  the September/October session.  After that, the exam will not be offered again until November.

Keep in mind that hiring happens year round, although it will drop off in September.  If you pass your exam mid-year, you could still be hired.

Big news!  Some people already have their scores for the BTLPT and LOTE exams.  I just heard from a lady who purchased my BTLPT products and passed her exam =).  You can check your ETS account to see if your score report is uploaded.

How is the BTLPT Graded or Scored?

ETS requires BTLPT scorers (graders) to be certified bilingual education teachers in Texas, or bilingual education professors in Texas.  They go through specific training and must pass a scoring/rating test.  In addition, each day they score/grade they  must pass a calibration test.  Each speaking (oral) task and writing task is graded by two raters/graders.

The BTLPT scores will be released August 4.

Generalist EC-6 and Generalist 4-8 News

Generalist EC-6 and Generalist 4-8 news: The details are not settled yet, but in January 2015 ETS is scheduled to start offering Core Subjects EC-6 and Core Subjects 4-8 (which will replace the Generalist EC-6 and Generalist 4-8). The new exam/rules will require candidates to pass each individual section of the exam. On the first attempt, candidates are required to take the entire exam. If they fail certain sections, they will be able to retake only those portions. There will be a required waiting period to retest.

Limited Admin CAT Registration Deadline

The deadline to register for Limited Administration CAT tests (Speech 7-12, Technology Applications EC-12, Business 6-12, and many more) is August 18, but test centers usually fill up before that.  Visit the ETS site or email me for more info at courtneyschonefeld@hotmail.com
